Tan Guan Hee

Dr. Tan Guan Hee is a Malaysian Board of Urology certified urologist with subspecialty training in urologic oncology. He completed a first fellowship at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. He was subsequently selected to join the prestigious Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) fellowship training at the University of Toronto, Canada. There, he worked closely with world leaders in the field of cancer care at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Toronto General Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. During his fellowship, he was trained to perform robot- assisted surgery, with special focus on prostate and kidney cancer. Apart from his passion in genito-urinary cancer, Dr. Tan is proficient in complex endourologic procedures for the treatment of urinary stone disease. He is especially keen in developing new surgical technology for use in endourology. He has scientific publications from his research work on laser technology, and also patented a novel flexible ureteroscope design. As a clinician, Dr. Tan strongly believes in a patient-centred approach and strives to tailor management plans for his patients. Dr. Tan is an active member of the Malaysian Urological Association where he served as an Executive Member and Chairperson of the Young Urologists Subcommittee in the 2016-2018 term. He has also conducted numerous teaching courses for trainees in the Malaysian Board of Urology program while he was an Associate Professor in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia between the years 2013-2018. He continues to be engaged in teaching and training of the next generation of Malaysian urologists.
